Cerebral Palsy Birth Injury

Cerebral palsy is the most common motor disability found in children. It is frequently linked to birth injury caused by complications such as oxygen deprivation, infection, or trauma during labor and delivery. When a baby’s brain does not receive enough oxygen, even briefly, brain cells can be permanently damaged, leading to lifelong impairments in motor control.

While not all cases are preventable, some are associated with medical negligence, such as failure to monitor fetal distress, delayed emergency intervention, or improper management of high-risk pregnancies.

The Birth Injury Center is working to support individuals and families impacted by birth injuries by providing clear, reliable educational resources. Their website is dedicated to explaining different types of birth injuries and offering guidance to families as they navigate diagnoses and care options.

Because cerebral palsy is the most common motor disability in children (affecting approximately 1 in every 345 children) they’ve created a comprehensive guide that breaks down the different types of cerebral palsy, how they’re diagnosed, and what families can expect. Check it out below!
